I used to live on French Hill. I loved it there. I could not imagine a better place to live. This was in the early 80's. I miss this place very much. Now I have lived in New Jersey for many years, and have been going to Israel once a year, but don't usually spend much walking around time in Jerusalem. I am mostly in Tel Aviv and then Jerusalem for Shabbat, but never French Hill. So now I will make sure to visit FH on my next visit.
I commend you for living in Israel. Regrettably, I left bec. I wasn't finding a female mate. I was getting into my late 20's and I was striking out w/ various local girls. I did have more success w/ meeting girls who were there for only a year program. So I thought, well if this is the type of person I am attracting, then maybe I should go back to the States and find her there. I had hopes that someone who had spent alot of time in Israel would want to move back eventually, but the person I found, is not really interested in Aliyah, even though we are living in a very impoverished way, to her credit or not, she doesn't mind being deprived of normal living items, such as fixing plumbing, getting new furniture when it is torn and broken, going on family vacations. So I am stuck here in New Jersey. Maybe some day my dream will come true. Thank you for an inspiring blog!

Wow, thanks for such kind words. I knew that there was a good reason for joining the blogosphere. Well, let me tell you something. When I first met my fiance (He was in New York on vacation after his Army service), I was vaguely interested in making Aliyah. But, it was such an in the future sort of thing. You know, like maybe I'll do it down the road, after I finish getting all my degrees. However, after dating my fiance and thinking things over for a while and some other interesting twists of fat, I saw that now was the time to go. Why do I tell you this? Don't think that just b/c your mate isn't interested right now in Aliyah doesn't mean she won't be. I too hope your dream comes true, b/c you know as well as I do that this country is a dream to live in.
I love the French Hill also and couldn't imagine living anywhere else in Jerusalem. It's quiet, pretty, and close to school. Very nice neighborhood. Anyways, I hope you continue to read the blog and comment. And, I hope that you return to the French Hill. Thanks.
