The country as one

As the editorials reported in this mornings Newspapers, Israel is united as one when is come to this attack by Hizbullah.

What the Newspapers are not reporting is the great sense of family that is going in the country at the moment. You can see it on the people's faces in the streets when you walk/drive, and you can see it in the backgrounds of the TV broadcasts. When we say that "Kol Yisrael Arevim Ze LaZe" (All of Israel is responsible for each other) gets an extra strong meaning in time of crises. It comes out in all sorts of ways some more obvious others less so.

This is one of the things I love about the great country I live in. Listening to Galatz (Israel Army Radio), they are listing telephone numbers of people opening their homes for the citizens up north that need a place to stay - they publicize their phone number on the radio for anyone who wants to call, in the last 10 minuted I have heard over 15 phone numbers of people. The people are from all areas of the country. In addition I have seen and received messages from Banks, medical, and other fields notifying that they will assist anyone that needs it, with special Hot lines. The Telephone Companies have opened their lines and are offering free Int. Calling from the north. Ch. 2 last night had a special "A Star is Born" (the Israeli American Idol), with no competition - just playing music, to help people feel better.

It is times like these that you really feel that this entire country feels as one, we are all in this together, this isn't just a problem of those living in the north, but something that we all feel, we are all glued to the television/radio, calling home every hour (my parents live up north) to make sure everything is OK, and always thinking about what is going on.

So, Wishing us all a quiet and peaceful Shabbat, and hope that we can return to the quiet that we so much want/need.
so Shabbat Shalom.
