Israeli Prime Minister Olmert's Speech: 7:30 PM

Prime Minister Olmert just finished his speech. Correction: He spoke in front of a gathering of the country's Mayors; NOT in front of the Knesset as earlier reported. The speech was actually very good. Olmert spoke very strongly and very firmly. I have actually never heard him speak like this before. There were tears in Olmert's eyes when he spoke about the soldiers and Israelis who have been killed since the start of the fighting 20 days ago. It was reminicent of watching Bush speak after 9/11. There were tears in his eyes when he spoke about the need to fight for those who had died. It was the look of resolve. I hope it sticks. Anyways, here are the highlights from his speech:

"The fight continues. There is no cease-fire. There will NOT be a cease-fire in the coming days."

"Tzahal fights in the air, on the land, and on sea."

"I said 20 days ago that this will be hard. I said that it will require patience to accomplish our goals. We knew at the beginning of the process that we would pay the heaviest price of all- human life."

"We cannot ease up on the terror organization of Hezbollah. They will come back at us with more rockets and more weapons."

"We will finish the war when the threat is removed and the kidnapped [soldiers] are returned."

"I think of all the soldiers and lives lost, 33, since fighting started."

"I think of a pain that has no end."

"I think and pray that we are worthy of their sacrifices."

"Citizens of Israel, my friends, we are firm in winning this struggle."

"We are not ready to give up our right to live normal lives like any other nation."

"We are firm in winning this struggle and living a life without terror."

"I ask the world, what would you do if you were in our position?"

"We are fighting against a terrorist organization that has no morals."

"I am sorry from the depths of my heart for the loss of innocent life in Kfar Qana. We were not looking for them or wanting their deaths. We are fighting against an organization that is only bent on destruction."

"We have no disputes with the Lebanese people or government. We are fighting for the right to live normal and secure lives."

"Hezbollah serves the interests of Syria and Iran."

"Citizens of Lebanon who are angry at Israel and at Israel's army for the damage we have caused you, know we are fighting the same enemy, Sheik Nasrallah and Hezbollah. We apologize for the loss of innocent life, but we will not apologize for fighting Hezbollah."

"We want to live beside you in stability and security, and one day, with the help of G-d, in peace."

"we will not for once second give up our right to exist as a nation."

"We will open jobs and businesses in the north."

"We are granting an additional 100 million shekels in emergency aid to the cities of the north."

"Hezbollah has suffered a hard blow and it'll take them a long time to recover from it."

"We will continue to chase after [Hezbollah] in any place and for any time [as long as it takes]."

"The international support for this necessary mission has been unprecedented."

"This is an almost once in a life time opportunity. We will not stop until our goals are achieved."

"Rockets and missiles will continue to be fired. More fighting is ahead of us. More days of blood and tears. We will not give up. We will not stop. We will continue to fight until the goals and objectives are achieved; until we have restored quiet, peace, security, and stability to our land."

Hello :
That was your presidents speech.. yes..

"The fight continues. There is no cease-fire. There will NOT be a cease-fire in the coming days."

... Yes, there is no need for a ceasefire as long as you are throwing tons of explosives on the head of civilians in their homes and shelters, in the streets and on the bridges, without being met with proper response, except for that from local resistants who are in most cases helpless. This might be called : truth thru superior fire power' as your logo on your blog says !
....

"Tzahal fights in the air, on the land, and on sea."
... very brave...shelling civilians and bridges, hospitals and power plants.... keep it p guys ...this is the highet morality that we could ever hear of !!

"I said 20 days ago that this will be hard. I said that it will require patience to accomplish our goals. We knew at the beginning of the process that we would pay the heaviest price of all- human life."
... waw ....

"We cannot ease up on the terror organization of Hezbollah. They will come back at us with more rockets and more weapons."
... I dont know who came back to who. It was ISrael that created the lebanese resistance when it invaded lebanon... go back to see some history Olmert...

"We will finish the war when the threat is removed and the kidnapped [soldiers] are returned."
... Very easy.. same as you are doing with palestinians..you always put 'targets' that look very easy and precise.. but it takes you hundreds of years to do them..
..Will the kidnapped be back this way ?? lets see...

"I think of all the soldiers and lives lost, 33, since fighting started."
Oh..no need to mention the 750 civilians killed by IDF shelling, as you once said : 'Israeli lives are more important '!!

"I think of a pain that has no end."

"I think and pray that we are worthy of their sacrifices."

"Citizens of Israel, my friends, we are firm in winning this struggle."

"We are not ready to give up our right to live normal lives like any other nation."
...Like any other nation ?? Oh...are you doing that ?? you are the last LAST nation that is keeping its army to OCCUPY another nation. When you are like other nations you will live like them....

"We are firm in winning this struggle and living a life without terror."
....The terror YOU created and keep feeding...

"I ask the world, what would you do if you were in our position?"
... We wuld stop occupying other peoples lands and simply pay some attention and resect to international laws and organizations liuke the Human rights watch, United Ntions, UNRWA, and human dignity

"We are fighting against a terrorist organization that has no morals."
...Yes, everyone who fights Israel is a terrorist and you are the ONLY true morality on earth... You are right and all the world is terrorist...

"I am sorry from the depths of my heart for the loss of innocent life in Kfar Qana. We were not looking for them or wanting their deaths. We are fighting against an organization that is only bent on destruction."
... Oh ..that is new.. I thought you said : "Despite our sorrow for the civilians who were forced to evacuate their homes and flee away, and despite the unintentional casualties, we don't apologize because the residents of southern Lebanon know quite well that their enemy is Nasrallah and his associates"....

"We have no disputes with the Lebanese people or government. We are fighting for the right to live normal and secure lives."
..Thats why we targeted bridges, mosques, hospitals, roads, power plans, and even trees.
SHAMEFUL

"Hezbollah serves the interests of Syria and Iran."
... good justification....keep it up !

"Citizens of Lebanon who are angry at Israel and at Israel's army for the damage we have caused you, know we are fighting the same enemy, Sheik Nasrallah and Hezbollah. We apologize for the loss of innocent life, but we will not apologize for fighting Hezbollah."
..lol.... !!!! this sentence was for sure NOT included on the written speech coz it looks ODD...

"We want to live beside you in stability and security, and one day, with the help of G-d, in peace."
...With the help of God and boms, as well as smart boms, F16's and shells..This will bring peace...trust me... !!!!

"we will not for once second give up our right to exist as a nation."
..Palying the victim here..are you fighting lebanon coz its denying your existence ?? or fighting Hizbollah ? or fighting Syria and Iran army in Lebanon ?? Maybe you are doing all that...very smart...and surely MORAL !

"We will open jobs and businesses in the north."

"We are granting an additional 100 million shekels in emergency aid to the cities of the north."

"Hezbollah has suffered a hard blow and it'll take them a long time to recover from it."

"We will continue to chase after [Hezbollah] in any place and for any time [as long as it takes]."
...We saw the Hizb chasing your Golani in bint Jbeil and other places.. ...try harder...

"The international support for this necessary mission has been unprecedented."

OHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!

Responsibility for the Israeli airstrikes that killed at least 54 civilians sheltering in a home in the Lebanese village of Qana rests squarely with the Israeli military, Human Rights Watch said today..
On July 27, Israeli Justice Minister Haim Ramon said that Israel had given civilians ample time to leave southern Lebanon, and that anyone remaining could be considered a supporter of Hezbollah. “All those now in south Lebanon are terrorists who are related in some way to Hezbollah,” he said, according to the BBC.

“Just because the Israeli military warned the civilians of Qana to leave does not give it carte blanche to blindly attack,” Roth said. “It still must make every possible effort to target only genuine combatants. Through its arguments, the Israeli military is suggesting that Palestinian militant groups might ‘warn’ all settlers to leave Israeli settlements and then be justified in targeting those who remained.”

Even if the IDF claims of Hezbollah rocket fire from the Qana area are correct, Israel remains under a strict obligation to direct attacks at only military objectives, and to take all feasible precautions to avoid the incidental loss of civilian life. To date, Israel has not presented any evidence to show that Hezbollah was present in or around the building that was struck at the time of the attack.

Tens of thousands of civilians remain in villages south of the Litani River, despite IDF warnings to leave. Some have chosen to stay, but the vast majority is unable to flee due to destroyed roads, a lack of gasoline, high taxi fares, sick relatives, or ongoing Israeli attacks. The sick and poor are those who mostly remain behind.

The attack took place around 1:00 a.m. today, when Israeli warplanes fired missiles at the village of Qana. Among the homes struck was a three-story building in which 63 members of two extended families, the Shalhoub and Hashim families, had sought shelter. The civilians had taken refuge there because it was one of the larger buildings in the area and had a reinforced basement, according to the deputy mayor of the town, Dr. Issam Matuni.

Human Rights Watch researchers have been in Lebanon since the onset of the current hostilities and have documented dozens of cases in which Israeli forces have carried out indiscriminate attacks against civilians while in their homes or traveling on roads to flee the fighting. A report of these findings and their legal consequences will be issued later this week.

....

No need for other human rights orgs opinions here, this is quite enough...

Osaid,
Olmert is the Israeli Prime Minister, not President - I can't answer someone who can't get any of their facts straight, even the most simple ones.

Oleh :
Sorry, that was a mistake, obviously...

You are NOT sticking to the other posts ideas though...

You dont get more basic facts straight too,( though this was a pure mistake from me -above ) but I still answer you..

Osaid, again: PROVE IT. Where are other "basic facts" missed? Hmmm? You know, nobody's asking you to answer, so get off the high horse there. Do you actually want us to grow through every mistake and stupid thing you wrote. That would take a while. Let me point out the highlights, then. Just for your pleasure to repay you for "answering us". M'kay?

... very brave...shelling civilians and bridges, hospitals and power plants.... keep it p guys ...this is the highet morality that we could ever hear of !!
Do you actually want to get into a morallity debate with us?!? Are you smoking that Hashish again, my friend? That is a battle you don't want to get into? You will lose so bad, the French will be envious.

Again, what are you smoking?!? Israel has provided ample video evidence, evidence which is posted on this site, (But, I guess you forgot to take a look at it. I mean, PATV and Al-Jazeera is saying other-wise, and they're much more reliable sources.) that shows rockets being fired from within Kfar Qana and numerous other villages. Second of all, you again seemed to miss the class on the rules of war and enagements, another lesson given by this blog for your behalf, that states that any civilian infrastructure used for military purposes is NO LONGER a cilian target and is a LEGITIMATE MILITARY TARGET. That includes roads, all ports, bridges, highways, houses, media, rail-road tracks, etc, etc, etc. You have absolutely no concept of what you're talking about except for what PATV tells you. It's rather sad really. Finally, Israel has done everything it possibly can, gone far beyond what any other army has done, to alert civlians to evacuate the areas that are being targeted in order to limit the loss of non-combatant life. They have dropped leaflets, made direct telephone calls to the house, broadcast evacuation warnings on radio and TV stations. So, tell me, what more should they have done to limit the loss of life???

There you have it. Two examples of you not getting your "basic facts" correct. I don't have to go through every single thing your wrote, because these two statements are indicative of everything else you say. Lies, lies, and more lies. Followed by ignorance, more ignorance, and bit more ignorance for an extra spicy taste. Osaid, get an education, and then pick up a dictionary. Then, maybe, just MAYBE, you'll learn what a "fact" really is.
