Updates for Tuesday July 18th

6:20 PM: Another person was killed this evening when a katyusha hit Nahariyah. 8 more people were injured when Katyushas fell on the rest of the north including, Tzfat, Kiryat Shmona, Carmiel, Gush Chalav (Jish), and other places.

3:18 PM: Jpost is reporting that the IDF has stated that it has destroyed at least 40-50% of Hezbollah capabilities. The IDF has also stated that it needs at least another week before they can fully decapitate Hezbollah's capabilities. The IDF has said that it understands that its time is limited to carry out its military objectives given what's happening with the UN.

In Gaza, Palestinian gun-men burst into the home of Palestinian Authority Preventive Security Service senior officer Nabil Tamus. They killed one of his security guards and kidnapped two others.

Katyushas continue to fall on Haifa, Tzfat, and several other northern cities and towns. There are no reported injuries.

Counting today, over 1,500 rockets have been fired into Israel.

The Israeli Navy is contemplating putting the Barak anti-missile system into the Haifa area in order to protect the city's strategic targets.

1:51 PM: Channel 2 is showing footage from protests against Israel in Tehran this morning. They pledge their support to Nasrallah. There were some pictures of flag burning and children dressed in suicide bombers' clothes and brandishing AK-47s.

Syria has restated that if Israel attacks her, the response will be very harsh.

The Fire department is asking people to try and turn off their gas in times of warning.

1:38 PM: Channel 2 is reporting that the IAF is continuing its attacks on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.

Jpost is reporting that a female soldier was stabbed in the Western Negev earlier today. The attacker stabbed her at least once in the back and stole her weapon. The suspect was arrested and is now in questioning, and the soldier is being treated for her wounds at a local hospital.

1:17 PM: Channel 2 is reporting that more rockets have also fallen in Tzfat. Two firefighters were lightly wounded.

1:10 PM: Channel 2 is reporting that a barrage of Katyusha rockets have fallen in Haifa just a short time ago. A reported 4 people were lightly wounded.

2 main events since the last update and a few minor ones.

Katyushas continued to hit the north last night in an attack that lasted of 30 minutes and covered many cities in the north, including Tzfat, Rosh HaNikara, Nahariya, Rosh Pina, Afula, Haifa, and others. One of the Katyushas hit the Tzfat Hospitle last night, causing several injuries. 30 Israelis were injured in the attack last night.

The other main event is an Israeli attack on south Lebanon that left 13 killed. The IAF attacked a town in south Lebanon, where Katyushas have been fired for the past week.

Other events: Sirens are going off again in Haifa at this hour and the residents of the north are being called to go into Shelter.

India has evacuated 50 of it’s citizens from Lebanon. Israel has allowed anyone who needs to get out via sea or air to get out of Lebanon, in a decision the Govt. made last night.

Tzipi Livni met with a UN group today and told them that Israel is willing to talk about bringing this crises to an end, but that doesn’t mean it will stop it’s military offensive.
