Articles Roundup: US Aid to Hezbollah and Other Goodness...

-Debbie Schlusselshows us that US aid that is scheduled to help Lebanon rebuild is actually going straight into Hezbollah coffers.
Countless billions in your tax money are about to go to Hezbollah--and may already be in the terrorist group's coffers.

If you liked aid to Katrina victims, you'll LOVE U.S. aid to Hezbollah, er . . . "Lebanon." Millions in misspending? Get ready for billions. And it won't be misspent on tattoos, condoms, and porn.

This time, Uncle Sam will pay for something far worse. Terrorism.

Should America reward Hezbollah for starting the war against Israel that just "ended" in a shaky, empty ceasefire? Should American tax dollars go to pay for destruction that was caused by Hezbollah's refusal to turn over two kidnapped Israeli soldiers?

-Amil Imani, at Front Page Mag, discusses how the West's left-wing liberal elites have become the "useful idiots" of Islamic fascism.
Islam enjoys a large and influential ally among the non-Muslims: A new generation of “Useful Idiots,” that Lenin identified as those who lived in liberal democracies and furthered the work of communism. This new generation of Useful Idiots also lives in liberal democracies but serves the cause of Islamofascism—another virulent form of totalitarian ideology.

Useful Idiots are naïve, foolish, ignorant of facts, unrealistically idealistic, dreamers, willfully in denial or deceptive. They hail from the ranks of the chronically unhappy, the anarchists, the aspiring revolutionaries, the neurotics who are at war with life, the disaffected alienated from government, corporations, and just about any and all institutions of society. The Useful Idiot can be a billionaire, a movie star, an academe of renown, a politician, or from any other segment of the population.

Arguably, the most dangerous Useful Idiot is the “Politically Correct.” He is the master practitioner of euphemism, hedging, doubletalk, and outright deception.

-Has Olmert send soldiers needlessly to their deaths?
By Aaron Klein

JERUSALEM – Did Prime Minister Ehud Olmert know a cease-fire would be imposed within two days when, after a month of fighting in Lebanon, he green-lighted a large-scale ground operation last week for which the Israeli Defense Forces allegedly had been petitioning for weeks?

That is the question many military officials are asking. The answer, they say, could determine the future of the Olmert government.

The operation, in which 15 soldiers were killed, was scratched within 48 hours after Olmert accepted a cease-fire.

"It's possible Olmert knew a cease-fire was coming. If so, our stepped-up operation that he approved two days earlier was a pointless exercise in which troops were killed. This is a very serious situation," said a senior military official speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to talk to the media.

-Soldiers still operating on the Lebanese front are discovering that the government that they're fighting for are planning to destroy their homes.
by Hillel Fendel
The bureaucracy rolls on. With its residents still in Lebanon under emergency call-up orders, the Yesha town of MaalehRehavam learned that officials were headed to post eviction orders on its doors.

Families in Maaleh Rehavam - a small outpost community in eastern Gush Etzion - were surprised to note this morning that Civil Administration officials were on their way to post eviction orders on their homes. Of the 30 residents, including five families, five are in Lebanon after having been called up on emergency basis this past month, and two others are in the standing army. [...]

Others feel the truth is more mundane: "The bureaucracy has a calendar and a schedule, and no one thinks whether now is a good time to do it or not; it just gets done." So says Nadia Matar, co-chairperson of Women in Green, a grassroots Land of Israel organization. "The previous orders expired," she said, "and they have to be renewed, and that's it. There's no consideration as to whether right now, with people still on the front lines in Lebanon, it might not be a good idea to go ahead with destroying Jewish homes."

-Jamie Glassman from The Times, shows that anti-semitism has become a "cool" thing in the streets of Edinburgh.
[...]Wandering through the streets of Edinburgh during the world’s largest arts festival, you never know what sight or sound you will be bombarded with next. Half-naked men on 6ft stilts meander by, half-naked girls rush to sell you their show, troops of Japanese acrobats tumble past. But I wasn’t prepared for the verbal assault I got when I wandered into a comedy gig this week.

There have always been anti- Semitic jokes. But you know times are changing when you go along to a stand-up show at the Pleasance Courtyard at the Edinburgh Fringe and you hear audience members shouting “Throw them in the oven” when the comic suggests kids should stop playing Cowboys and Indians and replace it with Nazis and Jews.

Stand-up comedy is as good a prism as any through which to look at the changing attitudes in our society. If my past few days are anything to go by then it is becoming increasingly acceptable to hate the Jews. Again.
