Daily News Updates: Day 23

6:55 PM: In the past few minutes, a new rocket barrage fell in Naharyia, Carmiel, and the entire Maalot area. No reports of injuries at this time.

6:49 PM: Rock of Galilee is reporting that due to the rocket attacks on Maalot, the city's electricity is out. There is no information on when it will be turned back on. (*Also, we are raising money for the IDF, Rock is raising money for the refugees of the north. He, himself, is a refugee from Maalot, and you can go to his blog to donate money to the more than 2,000,000 northern residents who need our help.*)

6:44 PM: Channel 2 is reporting that the 8th civilian death was mistakenly reporting and only 7 people have been killed from Katyusha attacks. Again, only SEVEN people have been killed, not 8.

6:41 PM: Just released for publication: Another soldier has died as a result of his wounds, bringing the death toll for the day up 11; 8 citizens and 3 soldiers.

6:09 PM: Another person has been killed as a result of Katyusha attacks on Acco. Now, a total of 8 people have been killed as a result of Katyushas; 3 from Maalot and 5 from Acco.

22 people have been injured; 10 of them are seriously wounded.

Just released for publication: A Palistinian women that was arrested 2 weeks ago in Tel-Aviv admitted today that she was part of the Tanzim and had refused to carry out a suicide attack but had agreed and was planning to kidnap Israelis.

Over 100 Katyushas have fallen in the north since the start of the morning.

Reservists operating in a southern Lebanese village have arrested 5 Lebanese on suspicions that they are working with Hezbollah.

5:26 PM: A total of 7 people have been killed as a result of today's rocket attacks. 3 of the people were from the Maalot area and were on their way to a bomb shelter when they were killed by shrapnel from a rocket that landed right by them. The 4 others dead were from Acco and were killed as another rocket landed just as they were leaving their bomb shelter.

After a relatively quiet morning, Katyusha attacks have intesified throughout the afternoon, landing, in amongst others, Acco, Nahariya, Kiryat Shmona, Maalot, Tzfat, and Rosh Pina.

At least 4 Hezbollah fighters have been killed by reservists in today's fighting in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah [*in a blatant attempt to gain back control of the rules of the game*] has announced that if Israel withdraws all of its troops from Lebanon, they will agree to a cease-fire.

(*Being that it's a fast day, it's a bit hard to keep up with the updates, and I'm not a good faster and have a mad head-ache right now. I'll try to be as dillegent as possible, as much is happening today*) The latest Katyusha attacks have resulted in the death of 1 person and 2 others were injured in Acco.

2 soldiers have been killed during fighting in southern Lebanon. At least 1 other soldier has been seriously injured and another moderately wounded.

4:05 PM: Hezbollah officials have told reporters that they've informed their "missile unit" to immediately aim to strike Tel-Aviv if the IDF and IAF resumed strikes on Beirut.

In a letter to Hezbollah fighters, the Spiritual leader of the terrorist organization said amongst other things that "you're working at this stage in order to create a new victory for the entire nation, and to topple the existing American-Zionist set-up and all the free enemies in the area and the world".

Syria says it's ready to assist in reaching a cease-fire between Hezbollah and Israel. (*Of course they are. Hezbollah is a proxy of Syria and Iran, and they're getting crushed. OF COURSE, Syria wants a cease-fire. They want one before their final grip and control in Lebanon is completely severed.*)

More Katyusha barrages continue to "rain" on the entire north and the Golan. A rocket barrage hit Kiryat Shmona just a short time ago. There are reports of injuries after rockets hit directly into homes. We'll bring you more information when we have it.

The FM of France says that they're working with the UN to come to immediate cease-fire terms. Israel is saying that it will committ to a cease-fire until a mulit-national force is positioned in southern Lebanon in order to prevent a decimated Hezbollah from returning to the area and regenerating their forces. France has said that it is against a multi-national force and is in favor of increasing the number of UNIFIL forces in the area.

1:37 PM: Sergeant Adi Cohen, 18, from Hadera, was killed in yesterday's fighting in southern Lebanon.

IDF forces arrested over 30 wanted terrorists throughout the West Bank area.

Katyushas continue to fall throughout the north today. It is "relatively" quiter than at this time yesterday. No reported injuries at this time.

The IDF is saying that it now controls 15 southern Lebanese villages as it works to set up a new security zone.

Continuing its operations in Gaza, the IDF have killed 8 armed terrorists in Rafiah, in southern Gaza.

Why's anyone listening to "The World"? I'm so exasperated. I know that it's easy for me to speak, sitting here safe in Brooklyn... but this is just too much!

irina, I totally agree with you!! I think that Israel should damn the world and does what is in HER best interest, not the interests of OTHER countries.
