Not for The Lebanese To Do...

Fox News is reporting that the Lebanese government has declared that it is NOT the responsibility of the Lebanese Army to disarm Hezbollah. Whose job is it then? Well, NOBODY. There is nothing in Resolution 1701 that discusses any immediate disarming of Hezbollah. It just says that no further weapons can come in without the direct authorization of the Lebanese government. The UNIFIL forces aren't responsible for disarming Hezbollah. So, again, we're back at the status quo ante; only this time there are more useless bodies standing around to protect Hezbollah the next time they attack Israel.
*UPADATE: The Lebanese government is saying that it is Israel's job to disarm Hezbollah. If they haven't been able to disarm them by now, well then, that's their problem. *This definitely qualifies as the most rediciulous item of the day. The Lebanese were pressing the world to force Israel into a cease-fire, and now that that cease-fire came before Israel was able to get the job done, it's ISRAEL'S fault for not disarming Hezbollah, AND it's their responsibility to do it, PERIOD. Now, that's CHUTZPAH!!! How convenient for Lebanon. Another nice way to stick a finger in Israel's eye. If more people weren't going to die because of this disgusting "cease-fire", I'd be laughing my butt off. Instead, this is just something more to cry over.

Your post got me thinking (and I just blogged about this) that Lebanon is Israel's Afghanistan. Only Israel has to play by special rules, so while the world was supportive of America in Afghanistan, the world doesn't look too kindly on Israel doing the exactly the same thing.
